Business & Skilled Migration 2019
The Queensland Occupation List (QSOL) is frequently updated, according to the current labour demand for occupations throughout Australia. If you are planning on applying for the Queensland state nomination, you need to make sure your occupation is available on the Queensland Occupation List (QSOL).
On February 1 2019, four in-demand occupations were removed from all QSOLs including:
- ICT Business Analyst – 261111
- Quantity Surveyor – 233213
- Construction Project Manager – 133111
- Marketing Specialist – 225113
From 16 July 2018 to the 22 November 2018, ten other popular occupations were removed from the all QSOLs. These include:
- Finance Manager – 132211
- Registered Nurse (Aged Care) – 254412
- Registered Nurse (Critical Care and Emergency) – 254415
- Developer Programmer – 261312
- Software Engineer – 261313
- Civil Engineer – 233211
- Electrical Engineer – 233311
- Mechanical Engineer – 233512
- Accountant (General) – 221111
- Engineering Technologist – 233914

My desired occupation is listed on the QSOL, what next?
To be eligible for Queensland nomination, you must meet both the Business and Skilled Migration Queensland (BSMQ) criteria and the Australian Department of Home Affairs (DHA) criteria for your desired occupation and chosen visa category.
DHA criteria requires you to:
- Possess a points-test result of 65 or higher, (including state nomination points);
- Possess a positive skills assessment in your nominated occupation;
- Be under 45 years of age;
- Meet the minimum English language requirement of ‘Competent’ (Unless a higher level is required by your assessing authority); and
- If invited to lodge application for a subclass 190, or subclass 489 visa, you will need to supply additional documents
BSMQ criteria requires you to:
- have an occupation on the QSOL for applicants currently ‘Working in Queensland’ (onshore);
- satisfy additional requirements necessary for certain occupations (further work experience, registration, higher points etc)
- submit evidence that proves you have been employed full-time in your nominated occupation for the past six months;
- if employed through a labour-hire company, submit relevant documentation of their Queensland registration, including overseas companies;
- submit evidence of ongoing employment with a Queensland employer that is registered within Australia for a further 12 months;
- be fully committed to working and living in Queensland for two years from visa grant.
I am eligible for the Queensland State Nomination, now how do I apply?
If you want to apply for the Queensland State Nomination, you must;
- Submit an expression of interest (EOI);
- Wait for the ITA (invitation to apply) from BSMQ to apply for state nomination
- Upload the documents that are required in the visa application form
- Submit all documents and pay application fee
